Two 2-day hazardous waste collections are scheduled during the summer each year. For information on dates, contact Vilas County UWEX at (715) 479-3648. For Hazardous Waste, Medication Disposal, Sharps Collections, and or other Services, see Oneida County Solid Waste Department.

Old medications and prescriptions should not be flushed down the toilet or thrown in the garbage. Doing so can release the medications into the environment, damage septic systems and even the workings of waste water treatment plants.
The Oneida and Vilas County Health, Sheriff's and Solid Waste Departments, Departments of Aging, Lakeland Senior Center and are Pharmacists are working together to offer the following collections in 2008
No Chemotherapy drugs or SHARPS (used needles or lancets) will be accepted.
Medications should be brought in their original container (please do not mix medications together). For prescription medications, the patient's name should be crossed out with black permanent marker to comply with HIPPA requirements.
