Northern Lakes Academy is an independent, non-denominational Christian Middle School and is not affiliated with any local church. NLA uses the Core Knowledge Curriculum, as researched by E.D. Hirsh, Jr., of the University of Virginia and author of Cultural Literacy.
Emphasis is placed on a content-rich environment with high standards for Math, Reading, English, Grammar, Geography, History, Fine Arts, Physical Education and Science. Students are offered Spanish starting in the 7th grade.
Respect for the student and the student's learning style is very important at NLA, as is respect from the student for teachers, volunteers, other students, and the educational process. Self-discipline and order are integral parts of the curriculum.
