Program/Service Notes:
Our non-profit organization was started in May of 1995 with the intention of benefiting PKU patients by promoting communication, encouraging education and advocating treatment appropriate to PKU.
A newsletter, sent out four times a year (January, April, July and October). The newsletter is free to individuals living in the state of Wisconsin and $5 for one year to anyone out of state (though the first issue is complimentary). Some of our regular features include recipe updates, doctor’s column, a kids’ page, and information about what is going on in our state.
A summer picnic in August. Our annual picnic gives the families an opportunity to socialize, provide support, share ideas and recipes besides having a good time.
A cookie exchange around the Christmas holidays.
A "Welcome Wagon" to new families. This is filled with information about PKU, information about our organization and a special gift for the new baby.
A scholarship program has also been established.
