The Forest County Potawatomi Housing Department assists tribal members attain home ownership by providing mortgage loans (funded by the Tribe) for the construction of a new home, purchasing an existing home, refinancing existing mortgages, and technical assistance thereby required in such real estate transactions.

The Wisconsin Potawatomi Housing Authority (WPHA) funded by the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act (NAHASDA) provides home improvement loans, rental units, and mutual help on homes, home building maintenance, construction crew for small home improvement projects, an Elderly Complex and Assisted Care Facility.
Our facility also offers a Building Trades Program. This is a one-year state certified Wisconsin Technical College diploma program. During this one-year program, students perform all aspects of construction. Beginning with an empty building site, students will plan, layout, work with inspectors, subcontractors, and housing officials in order to build a house for a homeowner.
Yet another service are in-house inspectors for contract/proposal review, construction monitoring, home design, and contractor technical assistance in order to ensure building code compliance as set by the Tribe.
